Smoke detector question?Does anyone have information on a supplier of smoke detectors with novelty cases on them? Several years ago we purchased a bunch of detectors made by Safety's Sake that had 3 different plastic covers on them; a firetruck, a kitten with a fire hat, and a puppy with a fire hose. The covers were labeled as being made by Funtech. The smoke detectors were glued into these plastic ornamental covers at the factory and packaged in a box containing some childrens fire safety activity books and other fire prevention materials. We still have a couple of the detectors, but cannot locate any information on the company that was selling them (the original packaging was apparently discarded). They had to recall one batch of the detectors, so we're wondering if that put them out of business.

If you have information on a company is that sells these or similar detectors, please let me know (either reply or email me). We need them for a fund raiser and have had requests from people in the public who remember us selling them many years ago.

Answer: I have been in the fire alarm buisness 20+ years and never seen the type of detectors your talking about. possibly they did not meet ul and thats why they are no longer available.
