We are in need of a Simplex Smoke Detector. (model 2098-9201). I have contacted a local Simplex branch and got the cold shoulder. So....how do I go about purchasing a Simplex detector or can I install a subsitution? If I can then what will substitute with Simplex? Thank in advance for you help.

Answer: -If it is service critical then offer retail for it. We have done this to take care of a customer before. You will find ALL proprietary fire alarm distribution to be difficult to deal with unless you have paid your, "protection money" certification process.

-Simplex will sell to the end user (your customer) if they request the parts and pay for it. As far as I know, only Simplex smokes are cross listed for their own equipment.

For my Simplex customers that do not want Simplex techs servicing their equipment, my customers buy the required equipment and I provide the labor.

I may lose on the equipment but I still get another happy customer and revenue from the labor provided.
