Question: Well, after last weekend's game (which I should have won, BTW, see my other posts) in which two members of my devastator squad were set on fire by a Space Ork Scorcha, I had divine (Imperial?) inspiration for a new wargear card. Portable Fire Extinguisher........................... 5 pts. The portable fire extinguisher is a pistol-sized cannister of highly-compressed smothering foam which can be used to supress the flames produced by the volatile fuel of flamer weapons. At range, a model equipped with the extinguisher may use it during his shooting phase instead of firing a weapon. Place the tear drop shaped hand flamer template over the intended target. Any burning flames are smothered on a roll of 2+. If the model equipped with the extinguisher moves into base to base contact with the affected model, he may automatically smother the flames rather than adding a +1 as normal. Models that are only partially covered by the template (including vehicles that won't fit) are smothered on a roll of 5+ in both cases.
Answer: this seems like a good ides, but only characters would be able to have it. that means, unless they are near the model on fire, its not going to do much good. then again, its only five points, but you might wind up eating a wargear card slot for nothing. the extinguisher should probably have a template smaller than the hand flamer, but for convience sake, i guess that is what you will have to use.
