Question: This may sound like a silly question but are there any OSHA regulations that require you to keep fire extinguisher inspection tags once they are filled up. I am talking about the tags that are on the extinguishers that you sign every time you do a visual check of the extinguisher.
Answer: -This type of detail would be referred to NFPA 10. They only require a permanent record for: * Maintenance, date, time, procedure, person * Recharge, * Hydrostatic Test, date, time, procedure, person * Dents after hydro * 6-year maintenance for stored pressure units. NFPA 10 A-4-4.3 -Very doubtful that this has to be kept. I've been working in fire protection and worker safety for many years, and may be wrong, but I doubt it. I thought OSHA got out of the fire extinguisher checking business. Also, I Heard about bar code tags and readers for this type of insection-sounds like a good idea.
