Question: Has anyone here gone through the NICET? I was told today that I'll be attending the five day course and have no idea what to expect or how "intense" it is. I know it deals with fire and fire alarms systems. Any "warning" will be appreciated.
Answer: -Who's 5 day course,? I got my NICET IV last year without the luxury of a pre exam course. Most of the II is knowing where to look in the codes along with some math. When they say the code handbooks are a help, they aren't kidding. If its the AFAA course you're taking you shouldn't have too much of a problem. From what I've seen they do a thorough job. -I'm not NICET certified, but I do have their literature. They make a big point about saying they don't give classes or do training of any kind. All they do is give exams, examine your work experience certifications, and take your money. Perhaps the course you're going to is an NFPA course or the NBFAA's "Practical Fire Alarm Course." Those are three day events.
