Question: Shopping for a fire extinguisher for my boat I compared the Kidde 110 prices at "marine" stores (Boaters World, West Marine, K-marts Boating Isle) and discovered the Box that says "marine" costs about $8 more than the Kidde 110 sold at Hardware stores (Scotty's Hardware, Home Depot). The extinguishers (the Kidde 110's) sold at the hardware store are marine approved when used with the bracket (provided). There is no difference in the extinguishers quality both are Kidde 110, (aluminum body, valve w/guage USCG approved w/bracket) The hardware stores are painted red, the marine stores are painted white. (small sample you results may vary) why spend $18 on an extinguisher at a marine store when $10 buys the _same_ protection at the hardware store !
Answer: -Isn't that pretty typical? Anything with "marine" on it is likely to cost as much as 100% more. After all, boat owners have a lot of money they don't need, right? -Something else to remember, "Home Depot" has a good selection of stainless and they also sell inexpensive dock line, at least they do at the store I go to
