Question: Looking for residential smoke detectors alarms. I do not want to get into the photoelectric vs ionization debate. I could not find any dual sensor hard wired (110v 120v AC) units. the only dual sensor units are battery powered. Do you know if anyone makes such a unit?
Answer: If mony is not a problem, if you have 10 rooms to protect and you need dual sensor technology, why don't you get a low zone fire alarm system? Check the 2M series detector, it'a a conventional triple sensor detector (heat, ionization and photo) with CleanMe (c) technology that will enable you to know when a detector is dirty, reducing the risk of false alarms. Check it there http://www.est.net/conv_det.cfm You can use a EST1 fire alarm system along with 2 or 3 indicating devices like the genesis Stobe/Horn http://www.est.net/prod_genesis.cfm . This system is very easy to install, if you buy the EST1-2Z1, you have 2 zones with one optional module space that you can use to add a Fire Department Relay (FDR), 2 more zones and many other options. Also, if you decide to use a fire alarm system, you can install a heat detector in the kitchen instead of a smoke detector that will give you false alarms.
