Question:
We are having a trip to the fire station in a couple of weeks and would like to do a few parts of the fire safety badge in the hall before we go. I was wondering if anyone had interesting/ fun ways to demonstrate/learn the different parts of the fire safety badge.>??

Answer: We did this with the local Fire and Rescue service last year, very helpful they were. Best part? The kids loved using the hosepipes to 'topple' a football from a road cone. They then played in the jet of water just to try and get wet (in November)! One parent had a go at me, why did you wet them? I just said they had a choice and pointed to two scouts who had stayed perfectly dry. She thought for a second, apologised and then spoke to her kid and his 2 mates who were about to get into her brand new range rover to go home and decided it was down to them and lack of brains. I'd agree, the dry ones stayed behind the jet and had picked off thier mates one by one... At one point, some of the scouts had not been listening and were messing about whislt the escape plans were being discussed. I suggested chucking a smoke bomb in at the HQ and seeing how they reacted. Station officer gave me a real funny look.
