Question: Fire Safety Merit Badge Does anyone have a lesson plan for any Merit badges for the Boy scouts
Answer: -I just finished giving a tour of the station to some cub scouts looking for the same thing. Their book lists what tasks that need to be completed. A pre-canned fire prevention presentation will meet only 1/3 of the tasks to include: stop-drop-roll smoke detectors escape planning for the home 9-1-1 dialing #'s for other services; police, utilities, etc. first aid: bleeding bandaging shock poison control/mr. uck The total time of the tour/presentation was two hours. However, I did not complete the first-aid section. A cub master who is a nurse for their pack will be conducting the first aid section. I estimated it would have taken at least 8 hours to complete those necessary sections. Best recommendation: Check the boy scout manual. It wil list the necessary details for cubscouts, weeblo and eagle levels. -I've been a counselor for several Scouts on this and other Merit Badges. I've always just purchased a copy of the Merit Badge Booklet, then I'm able to just rely on the booklet's info and my knowledge to complete the Merit Badge. I usually try to add something personal to make it more interesting for the Scout, and also reinforce the importance of fire safety, first aid knowledge, etc. I've also found that I have more fun with this than the Scouts!
