Question: The thread states that leaving a bedroom door open is equivalent to driving without seat belts. Is this accurate? Should children's bedroom doors be closed at night for risk of fire?
Answer: -The answer to your question is unequivocally yes. Children's (and adult's for that matter) bedroom doors should be closed at bedtime. If someone thinks they need to "hear" a child, they can buy a baby monitor (radio) that bears the mark of a recognized testing lab (i.e. UL). Again, bedroom doors should remain closed at bedtime (day or night). To borrow a phrase from a popular health campaign: When you are sleeping "It's a matter of life... and breath!" -It's also advisable to make sure there are Fire Alarms (preferably with CO detectors) Near each bedroom, as well as a reflective child sticker for the childrens bedroom window. I don't see as many as I used to but I always make sure -I- look for them.
