Question: A fire in a trash chute caused two tower floors to be evacuated at around 4 pm yesterday. No one was injured, and the majority of gamblers didn't even notice. This leads me to repost an earlier message that I put up here years ago. A was a volunteer fireman for 7 years. In my many trips to Las Vegas, and many other places, I always checked out the emergency exits, and ways I would get out in case of fire. My advice is that you notice where the emergency exits or stairways are as you find your room. There are lots of fire prevention tips on the web. I used to carry a battery operated smoke alarm, because I didn't trust the ones in the places that I stayed at. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Answer: You don't know what paranoia about fires truly is until you attend a convention of Fire Investigators at the Bally's.(grin). My last trip to the International Association of Arson Investigators convention was the one they held there in the early 80s. The first two days were pretty much recaps of the MGM (now Bally's) and LV Hilton fires. It was a real thrill to watch a real time animation of how the fire hit the drapes in the MGM and then go to the show room at Caesars...
