Question: Anything special I need to know about a fire extinguisher for the car. I was up at Lowe's earlier and saw a variety of home use fire extinguishers but wondered if there is a variety that would be better for a car. I figure as long as it's rated for flammable liquids and electrical it should be good. Comments? Also, where's a good place to pick up a first aid kit for the car. A medical supply company would have them for a premium price. Anyone know where to get a good one at a reasonable price?
Answer: you want an ABC or BC rated extinguisher rated for Class A paper and wood products and Class B oil flammable liquids and a Class C energized electronics... also get at least a 5 lbs extinguisher anything smaller is a waste of time because with a five pound extinguisher you get 18 to 20 seconds of spray time and be sure and get a metal headed one preferably a badger or an ansul..... that way it can be recharged if you ever use it..... i have a few 5 lbs badgers in my garage if you are interested.... they all come with vehicle brackets.....and as far as first aid any small kit will do it mostly consists of your skill level in first aid.... I am licensed in industrial fire protection that is what i do for a living.... my licenses include NAPF 10, 14, 17, 20 21, 29, 29A...(NAPF National Association of Fire Protection). i am also a paramedic NREMT-P if you would like let me know
