Safety test - fire extinguisher

Question:
Safety test - fire extinguisherI have been told that I need to get my fire extinguishers tested for the safety check. But all I can find on the website is that they have to be in good condition (not dented, rotten etc) and kite marked, both of which are true. Do I need anything more? I know the scheme has changed a lot over the years, but it hasn't got any easier to find out what's allowable...

Answer: It's all here down to the last crossed t and dotted i. These are the the exact examination procedures for our examiners. http://www.boatsafetyscheme.com/downloads/BSS_Guide_chap6web.pdf as you will see having an extinguisher tested is just one compliance option for one very specific type of extinguisher (the type that has a unit expiry date on it) > Do I need anything more? That's a little rough on me when I'm on here offering links, our email address and the BSS office phone number (01923 201278), fax number (210420) and if all else fails the snailmail address Boat Safety Scheme, Willow Grange, Church Road, Watford WD17 4QA. ;-) Anyway all you want and more can be found here http://www.boatsafetyscheme.com/site/2ndeditionBSSEssentialGuide_212.asp enjoy!
