Question:
Am taking delivery next week on a 29 foot sport fisherman with dual gas powered inboards. Want to put fixed fire extinguisher system in it (engine/fuel tank areas only). What are the pros and cons of the various systems? Any suggestions as to suppliers?

Answer: I really can't think of any cons other than cost. They work and are well worth the investment. Because of the new regs. concerning Halon they are switching to FE 241 and Co2. Kidde and Fireboy seem to be the forerunners in the marine market. I prefer a system that allows for maunual and automatic discharge as many times ycu will notice a fire before it has reached a level that will set off the automatic discharge.
