Question: I'm planning on doing some non-competetive track work in my VS occasionally (joining a sporting car club), and I'm just curious as to where I can mount the fire extinguisher ($20 and Big W..and it complies with the proper standard etc..not too bad I thought). I know it has to be in the cabin, but does it have to be on the driver's side? Ideally, I'd like to mount it on the passenger's side, against the driveshaft tunnel ('cause I've sat it there and it's pretty much out of the way), but is that an ok spot? I'd prefer not to have it on my side if I can help it.
Answer: Yup, gotcha. That's the same way my mate has his mounted, but in front of the driver's seat, not the passenger's. Another reason I'd prefer not to put it flat on the floor in front of either seat is I'd have to either remove or cut away part of the floor mats..and I like 'em how they are ;) On the passenger's side, against the driveshaft tunnel seems like a good spot, 'cause it doesn't get in the way of the mats or the passenger, and it's easy to get to...I just wanna make sure it's allowed (CAMS couldn't tell me) before I go ahead and do it
