Question: Fire extinguisher placement?Well I decided to buy two Kidde Class 10BC 2.75lbs Model 466141. Now I just need to mount them. I was thinking of these www.combogrip.com. I really haven't haerd anything about them. I was thinking of putting them on the vertical bars behind each front seat. Is this unadvisable, should I put them someware else. I think 5.5lbs will be enough. I might place one under the hood, is this a good idea?
Answer: -Take them back and get ones with metal heads, you will likely never use the Kiddies before they leak down on their own in a few months. I bought my father a kiddies for his new house and before he ever took it out of the box, it leaked down in pressure. Talking to the local experts confirmed that the plastic heads are worthless. -I use a Merrimac dry chemical fire extinguisher by Ansul, mostly because I get the refills for free. It came with an over center latch mount that is now sheet metal screwed to my floor tool box, between the front seats: http://billhughes.com/extingui.jpg Remember you most be able to reach it upside down pinned underneath the steering wheel, blinded by gasoline.
