Question: I live in a large house that has been subdivided into seven flats and have decided to install a fire alarm in the property. We invited the local council to survey the property and suggest where will need heat/smoke detectors. We are mulling over what work we will do ourselves and what we will leave to professional fire alarm contractors. Are there any good books that explain: - Where detectors and sounders should be placed in each room? - What type of wiring is required? - Wiring layout? - Emergency lighting? etc etc
Answer: I thought that HMOs had to have fire alarms by law? I would suggest that you use a professional firm, as you wouldn't have a leg to stand on if you burnt to death.
