What does one do with an old smoke detector in Canada (Toronto, specifically)?

Question:
What does one do with an old smoke detector in Canada (Toronto, specifically)? It contains Americium 241, and I'd rather dispose of it properly than send it off to a Michigan landfill. Part of the label has been peeled off so I'm not sure who the manufacturer is, although it looks like ".....dicon Systems Limited", and it was made in Canada.

Answer: http://www.infras.gov.ab.ca/content/doctype486/Production/13380b.doc mentions: Dispose of radioactive smoke detector components by making disposal arrangement with one of the following radioactive waste disposal facilities: .1 Original equipment manufacturer. .2 Waste Operations Branch Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. Chalk River, Ontario K0J 1J0 Contact: Norm Edwards at (613) 584-3311 for further details. .3 Atomic Energy of Canada licensed waste disposal facility.
