Just bought a two famaly house and wanted to put in a cheap smoke alarm system. I have thought about going wireless BUT when I called around they wanted like $115 for each detector. I then thought I could go wired. Any ideas? Could I wire up detectors that you can get at a store to ring off a remote alarm?

The detectors need to be connected PROPERLY to a control panel rated for residential fire detection, and the installation, monitoring, and dispatch particulars must be verified with the local building and fire authorities.
