What is the opinion of the group regarding the advantages and disadvantages of 2 and 4 wire smoke detectors??

My panel will handle 2 wire.

Answer: I have installed mostly two wire smoke Detectors. As per advantage? I don't believe that there is an advantage. Panels either have a built in smoke detector zone or they don't .THey either provide power via the zone or they don't. In the latter you need four wire smoke detectors because the power source is from the aux power terminals or a different power supply.. In fire Panels you have zones that are either class A or B circuits. Both of which provide the power right off the zone terminals. Most commercial smoke detectors are two wire smoke detectors. I am sure the more seasoned professionals can provide you with the ins and outs of your query. I am not much of a installer or service tech. So I could be wrong. But mabye I am right here. In any event I usally talk to people that are very savvy in regards to technical questions. Bob Lablonde, Robert Bass, Jim Rojas all are very capable individuals whom can answer your question better then I can.
